Abstract We present a new partially coherent source with spatiotemporal coupling. The stochastic light, which we call (ST) non-uniformly correlated (NUC) beam, combines space and time in an inhomogeneous (shift- or space-variant) correlation function. This results that self-focuses at controllable location space-time, making these beams potentially useful applications such as optical trapping, tweezing, particle manipulation. begin by developing the mutual coherence function for ST NUC beam. then examine its free-space propagation characteristics deriving expression mean intensity any plane $$z \ge 0$$ z ≥ 0 . To validate theoretical work, perform Monte Carlo simulations, generate statistically independent beam realizations compare sample statistical moments to corresponding theory. observe excellent agreement amongst results.
